Acoustics Fitout – Sunshine Coast Regional Council

We are proud to display the magnificent Sunshine Coast Regional Council acoustics fit out recently completed by the Acoustics by Specfurn team!

For this project, Mark Quising outlined a class leading design for a cost effective and high performance acoustic solution which left our clients stunned.

The Plan

This project began with the Sunshine Coast Council approaching Mark Quising @ Acoustics by Specfurn to create a more tranquil working space for their office users. The first issue to address was the main open plan office area, which had a very high ceilings to allow for natural light. High ceilings generally create additional noise which creates an uncomfortable environment due to excessive reverberation and volume of noise. There is also a series of meeting and quiet spaces that each required their own acoustic treatment. Finally, the kitchen and breakout area needed to be acoustically treated to reduce the hard echo in that room.

It’s easy to see that Mark’s careful attention to detail and years of experience in professionally managing commercial fitout projects has paid dividends for his clients. The end result speaks for itself.

The Raked Ceiling

The raked ceiling in the main open plan office had acoustic panels applied with 70% coverage. With cost efficiency & performance in mind, 30 panels of QuiteSpace (Nude White) in 50mm width were recommended for optimal noise control. QuietSpace 50mm panels are capable of absorbing 100% of sound energy they encounter, an astounding Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC).

The result was a near invisible, and highly effective acoustic panel install. If you’re after a low-profile acoustic panel suitable for walls and ceilings, check out the QuietSpace.

The Meeting Spaces

Each of the two meeting rooms had Groove Panels cut in the V1 style and in Opera colour. This wall acoustically dampens the noise coming from inside the meeting room, and more effectively controls noise coming from outside of the room than a bare wall would. Groove is a specially cut and styled form of acoustic panel perfect for meeting rooms. Find out more here.

The Kitchen Room

QuietSpace nude white panels were also installed in the kitchen room with 70% coverage. 25mm panels were chosen for this area. This creates a tranquil area for office users to enjoy their breaks without the discomfort and clatter of an acoustically noisy kitchen area.

Quiet Rooms

A series of quiet rooms were completed with dividing acoustic panels and complete wall coverage on two adjacent walls. Additionally, two smaller, single workstation quiet rooms were fitted with Autex Groove on all walled surfaces.

Whiteboard Collaborate Space

To limit collaboration noise from filtering into the open plan office space, the client chose to add a the beautifully cut Groove panels. This wall provides a functional benefit, as well as providing visual flair – made apparent prior to entering the main office space. This creates a great first impression for all who enter the building for the first time.
